"When You Walk in the Room" is a song written and recorded by Jackie DeShannon, first released by her in 1963 but covered by many artists.
DeShannon's original version was released as a single on November 23, 1963. as the B-Side to "Till You Say You'll Be Mine". It was later rereleased as a single A-side in September 1964, and later included on the album Breakin' It Up on the Beatles Tour. The single charted on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, peaking at #99.

The lyrics of the song attempt to detail the singer's emotions when in the presence of the person he or she loves. There is also an expression of frustration by the singer that he or she cannot manage to that person of his or her love.
The Searchers version
The song was recorded by The Searchers in 1964. This version became an international hit, reaching #35 in the US and #3 in the UK.
A German version sung by The Searchers is called Wenn ich dich seh [1]
Another early hit for Jackie DeShannon, "Needles and Pins", written by Jack Nitzche and a little known at the time songwriter from Detroit by the name of Sonny Bono, was covered by the Searchers also.

The Sports version
Australian rock band The Sports released a version as the second single from their debut studio album, Reckless. The song peaked at number 42 on the Australian Kent Music Report.

The single was not as successful as "If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind", peaking at #11 in Sweden and #34 in the UK, where it remained in the chart for only two weeks. It was remixed by Almighty and SoundFactory.
